Energy Performance Certificates and Your Rented Property

From the 1st October 2008 any property advertised for rent must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) that is no more than 10 years old. Without this certifiacte and its accompanying recommendations of cost effective measures to improve performance the property cannot be advertised. Failure to have an EPC before advertising will result in a £200 fine per property for failure to comply.

Castle Homes would be happy to organise for the EPC to be carried out and after consulting with various companies have decided to use Weston Energy. The cost is £70 and the certificate will be valid for 10 years.
